Race

Updated Oct 15, 2026

A Race is one event where every participant competes at once and is ranked by their result, usually a finishing time. Think of a time trial, a speedrun contest or a driving game.

When to use it

  • Everyone is measured on the same course or task, and the fastest wins.
  • You have any number of participants. A Race is a single round for the whole field.
  • Use Points instead if results are scores rather than times.

How it works here

  1. The stage has one round, called "Race", with one match. Every participant has a place in it, in seed order.
  2. Each racer reports their own result: a status, plus a time for a finisher. For a race measured in laps, laps completed can be added too. Once a racer has reported a final status, only staff can change it. Times are entered to the millisecond and shown as HH:MM:SS.mmm.
  3. Staff can set or correct any result, including a disqualification, on the stage's Times tab. A time is typed as digits only and fills HH:MM:SS.mmm from the right, so typing 123456 gives 00:01:23.456. A pasted time such as 1:23.5 is read as written. Typing a time marks a pending racer Complete. Each row can be saved on its own, or every edited row at once with Save all.
  4. The race completes when every racer has a final status, or when the organizer uses "Close race". Anyone still out when it is closed is marked as did not start.

Statuses. A racer is Pending, In progress, Complete (finished with a time), DNF (did not finish, may have laps and time), DNS (did not start) or DSQ (disqualified). Complete, DNF, DNS and DSQ are final. Only the organizer can set DSQ.

Late entry. When the organizer turns on "Allow late entry while the stage is running", new racers can join the race after it has started. It closes at the tournament's registration cutoff. The organizer adds latecomers by account or by name, and an entry approved while late entry is open joins the race too. A race that is already completed cannot take new racers.

How the ranking is decided

Racers are ordered by status first: finishers, then DNF, then those still racing, then DNS, then DSQ. Racers who did not start or were disqualified are not classified and never advance to a later stage.

Within finishers, and within DNF racers:

  1. More laps completed ranks higher. This step is skipped in a race over a set distance, where laps are not recorded.
  2. Then the faster time.
  3. If two results are exactly equal, the one that was entered first ranks higher.

Finishers rank first, by laps completed and then by time, then racers who did not finish by the same rule. DNS and DSQ come last and are not classified.

There are no tiebreaker settings for a Race. A Race takes no proof images and no point penalties.

Settings organizers choose

  • Allow late entry while the stage is running. It stays editable while the stage runs.

A Race has no match format, map pool or veto.
