Disputes
Most matches end when both sides report the same score. This article covers what happens when they do not, and how to get help from the people who run the tournament.
When a match becomes disputed
A match turns Disputed when both sides have reported and their main scores differ. Map details never cause a dispute.
You and your opponent are both notified, and so is the tournament staff. A disputed match shows in red on your home page and on the match.
Nobody opens a dispute by hand, so there is nothing to file. The match gets one when the reports disagree.
Fix it yourself first
A dispute does not lock the match. You can both change your own report at any time while the match is Disputed.
- Open the match and read the Your report card. It is marked Reports differ and says that your main score and your opponent's differ.
- Check your score and correct it if it is wrong. Use the match chat to talk it through.
- Submit again.
The match completes the moment the two main scores agree. Both of you are then told the dispute is resolved. Many disputes are just a swapped score.
Evidence that helps
- Screenshots. Add them under Proof on the match. Proof is visible to both sides and the staff, not to spectators, and you can add it after the match is completed. Each side can add up to 10 images. See Match day.
- The match chat. Staff can read it, so agreements about time, lobby or scores are on record.
- Map details. If you report each map, the staff see where your accounts differ.
If the tournament requires proof, your report needs a screenshot or the I can't upload a screenshot option, and the organizer sees a report without one marked as unproven.
Who resolves it
If you cannot agree, the tournament's staff decide. They can see both reports, the proof and the chat. They set the final score themselves, and that settles the match. You are notified that the dispute is resolved.
Staff can also correct a completed result later, until the stage is finished. You are notified of the score correction. If the winner changes, the later matches that result fed are cleared and played again with the right participant. Every change is recorded in the match's history, which the staff can see.
Call an admin
Use Call admin in the match chat when you need staff for something other than disagreeing scores: your opponent has not shown up, a rule question, or a lobby problem.
- Open the match and its chat.
- Select Call admin in the chat header.
- Staff are notified in the app and by email, and the button changes to Admin called. You cannot call twice.
- Staff join the chat. They mark the call handled when they are done, and it also clears when the match completes.
"Admin" here means the tournament's own staff. The button is only in match chats, not in direct messages or groups.
Forfeits and disqualifications
Players cannot forfeit or report a no-show. Staff decide.
- Forfeit. Staff pick the side that forfeits. The other side wins and moves on. If both sides forfeit, both are recorded as a loss and whoever is waiting in the next round goes through unopposed. Standings show a forfeit as a loss.
- Disqualification. In elimination, round robin and Swiss stages, staff can remove a participant from a running stage. Results already played stand. Every open match of theirs is lost and their opponents advance. It cannot be undone, and the participant never advances from that stage.
Missing check-in is not a forfeit. An entry that did not check in never gets into the bracket. See Check-in.
