Teams and rosters
A team lets you enter team tournaments together. Anyone with a verified email can create one. This article covers running a team and how its roster turns into a lineup.
Create a team
- Open My teams and select Create team.
- Enter a team name (2 to 40 characters) and pick at least one game under Games. Optionally add an avatar, a public email, a description and social links (Facebook, Twitter / X, Instagram, Discord).
- Select Create team.
When you join a tournament, you can only choose a team that plays that tournament's game.
Roles
Each member has one role. The roles rank from Owner down to Player. An owner, team leader or member can change the role of, or remove, anyone ranked below them, and can only give a role below their own. Nobody changes their own role.
| Role | What it is for |
|---|---|
| Owner | Runs the team. Everything a team leader can do, plus transferring ownership, disbanding or reopening the team, and spending the team wallet. |
| Team leader | Edits the team, enters and withdraws it from tournaments, sets its lineups, checks in, takes map veto turns and reports match results. Also manages members ranked below. |
| Member | Can invite players, answer join requests and manage members ranked below. Cannot enter the team or report for it. |
| Player | Plays for the team. Cannot manage it. |
A team has exactly one owner. To hand it over, open Manage members and select Make owner (the crown icon) on another member. You become a team leader.
Add and remove players
Open the team page, then the three-dot menu and Manage members. The dialog has three tabs.
- Members. Change a member's Role, set their Game rosters (which of the team's games they play), or remove them.
- Requests. Accept or decline players who asked to join.
- Invites. Search for a player by name (type at least two characters) or invite someone by email. Invitations you have sent are listed below.
Players can also find your team with Find a team, open its page, and select Request to join. They answer an invite from the team page or the Invites page.
A removed member needs a new invite or an accepted request to come back.
Leave or close a team
- Leave team is in the three-dot menu. An owner must choose a new owner first.
- Disband team is for the owner. A team that never entered a tournament is deleted for good. A team that did keeps its page and results, and its members leave. You cannot disband a team while it is still entered in a tournament that is not over.
A disbanded team cannot enter tournaments. The owner can bring it back with Reopen team in the same menu. It returns with only the owner on it, so invite the others again.
Rosters in a tournament
When you enter, you pick the lineup: each team member is either Play, Sub or left out. Sub only appears when the tournament allows substitutes. The tournament sets how many active players it needs and, sometimes, how large the roster can be. The dialog tells you if the lineup does not fit.
- Until the tournament starts, a leader or owner can change the whole lineup with Edit lineup on the tournament page.
- After it starts, the roster is locked. Swap players only moves players already on the roster between active and substitute.
- Tournament staff can still rewrite a team's lineup if something goes wrong.
Only people who are members of your team can be in a lineup.
Lineups for a match
Each match starts with the team's tournament lineup. In a two-sided match, a leader or owner can change who plays that one match by opening it and selecting Manage lineup. The lineup must have the number of active players the tournament needs, and only team members can be in it. The change applies to that match only, and you cannot make it once the match is completed.
Team rooms and chat
Only a team's owner and leaders are seated in a tournament's chat rooms, so they speak for the team. See Chat and notifications.
