Entry fees

Updated Oct 15, 2026

Some tournaments charge an entry fee. The fee is paid from a wallet, held for the tournament, and used for the prize pool and fees after it finishes.

How a fee is charged

The tournament page shows the fee. A fee is one of two kinds, chosen by the organizer before publishing:

  • Once, at registration. You pay one fee when you join and every stage is free.
  • Per stage. Registration charges the first stage's fee, if it has one. Later stages have their own fees, paid only if you advance into them.

The fee is taken the moment you select Join tournament. If the wallet is short, the dialog says by how much and offers Add funds. For a team wallet it also offers From my wallet, to cover the gap with your own funds. You are only registered if the payment succeeds.

Which wallet pays

  • Solo tournaments: your own wallet.
  • Team tournaments: the team's wallet. Only the team owner can enter a paid tournament with it, because entering spends the team's money. Any team member can add funds first. See Prizes and payouts.

When registration charges a fee, tournament staff cannot add you by hand. You always join and pay yourself.

Paying for a later stage

When you advance into a stage with a fee, you are offered a seat. Nothing is charged until you pay.

  1. You get a notification and an email. For a team, they go to the team's owner, who pays for the team. The seat also appears under Seats awaiting payment in your wallet and on the tournament page.
  2. Open the tournament, select Pay now, then select Pay with the amount in the Pay stage entry dialog.
  3. Pay before the deadline.

The deadline is soft. The organizer can give the stage its own payment window; if they do not, the platform's default window applies. You do not need to work it out: the seat offer notification and email, the notice on the tournament page, the Pay stage entry dialog and the Seats awaiting payment card in your wallet all show when payment is due. One Seat payment due soon reminder goes out before the deadline. After the deadline you get an overdue notice and the organizer's staff are told how many seats are overdue. The organizer then decides whether to remove you and offer the seat to someone else, or wait.

You can still pay after the deadline until the stage starts. When the stage starts, any seat still unpaid is forfeited and you are taken out of the stage.

Giving up a seat

If you do not want a seat you have not paid for yet, select Give up seat in the payment dialog before the stage starts. You leave the stage and nothing is charged. After the stage has started, you cannot give a seat up.

Refunds

Refunds are always 100 percent, sent back to the wallet that paid. You get one when:

  • You withdraw. Select Withdraw on the tournament page. This is possible until the first stage starts.
  • The organizer removes you or rejects your registration.
  • The tournament is cancelled.
  • The organizer cancels the stage your seat is for.
  • You registered for a tournament that needs approval and the organizer does not answer in time. A paid registration still waiting when a short grace period after registration closes runs out is declined and refunded automatically.

Once the first stage has started you can no longer withdraw. If you stop showing up, the fee stays in the prize pool. Being removed by the organizer or a cancelled tournament still refunds you.

A refund to a team always goes to the team wallet, even if members added the funds. It is never split back to individual members.
