Cancel or restore a stage
Cancelling a stage takes it out of the tournament without deleting it. Use it when one stage of a multi-stage tournament cannot go ahead, but the rest can. You need to be the owner or on the tournament's staff list.
What cancelling does
A cancelled stage is over. Nothing in it is played or changed:
- Results, reports, map vetoes, coin flips, lineups and rescheduling are all refused.
- Unread match notifications for its matches, such as match ready, admin call and dispute alerts, are marked read.
- Stages it feeds no longer wait for it, and nobody advances out of it.
- If it was the first stage, the registrations move to the next stage, as if the first stage had been deleted.
- Paid seats in the stage are refunded in full, and the refunded money leaves the prize pool.
Staff are notified, and so is everyone seated in the stage.
Once no stage is pending or running, the tournament finishes by itself. Its final standings come from the last stage that was not cancelled. See Finalize and payouts.
How to cancel
- Open the stage from the Stages tab.
- Open the stage's actions menu (the three dots) and choose Cancel stage.
- Read the note in the confirmation. It says whether paid entries will be refunded, and if so, that the stage cannot be restored afterwards.
- Confirm.
When you cannot cancel a stage
The Cancel stage action is not offered, or is refused, when:
- The tournament is a draft. Delete the stage instead.
- The tournament is finished or cancelled. Its stages stay as they are.
- The stage is not pending or running. Only a pending or ongoing stage can be cancelled.
- No other stage could still decide the tournament. Cancel the tournament instead.
- It is the registration stage of a paid tournament. The entry fees sit on that stage, and handing the registrations to the next stage would seat people who have not paid. Cancel the tournament instead, which refunds everyone.
Restoring a stage
Choose Restore stage on a cancelled stage's page. It comes back as it was when you cancelled it: pending, or running with its matches and results intact. Any map veto turn that was on the clock gets its full time again.
You cannot restore a stage when:
- It was cancelled along with the whole tournament. Only a stage cancelled on its own can come back.
- Any of its seats were paid. The fees were refunded, so the stage stays cancelled.
- The tournament is completed. Reopen the tournament first.
- A stage that went on without it has started. That includes the stage it feeds, or, for a cancelled first stage, the stage that took over its registrations. Play has moved on from what restoring would change.
