Create a tournament
A new tournament starts as a draft. Nothing is public and nobody can register until you publish it, so you can set it up at your own pace. Only the organization's Owner can create tournaments.
Open the form
In your organization's dashboard, choose New tournament (a button on the dashboard and an entry in its menu). The form has six sections, all open at once.
Basics
- Tournament name. The tournament's address is generated from it.
- Discipline: the game.
- Platforms: shown for video games only.
- Participants: Team or Solo.
- Max participants: the cap. Every entry that is not rejected holds a seat, including pending requests and open invitations, and nobody can join once the cap is reached. The form requires at least 2. You cannot lower it below the seats already taken.
- Players per team and Max roster size: shown for team tournaments. The roster cannot be smaller than a team.
- Timezone and Start: every date in the form is read on the timezone you pick.
Schedule
- Open registration with Registration opens and Registration closes. See Registration.
- Require check-in with Check-in opens, Check-in closes and Also close check-in the moment the tournament starts. See Check-in settings.
Each close must come after its open.
Format & options
- Visibility: Public (listed and open to anyone who joins) or Invite only (only people with your join link or a personal invitation can enter).
- Approve join requests automatically.
- Enable chat. Off, the tournament has no chat rooms at all.
- Require a screenshot with every reported result.
- Require a linked Epic Games account to join, for Fortnite only.
The format of the games themselves (bracket, groups, race) is set per stage. See Stages and seeding.
Entry fee & prizes
Turn on Charge an entry fee to choose whether it is charged Once, at registration or Per stage, set the fee and your Organizer fee percentage, and define the prize split. The form shows how each entry is divided between the platform, you and the prize pool. See Entry fees and Prizes and payouts.
Staff
Pick the members who run this tournament. You must choose at least one. Only your organization's members appear. See Create an organization.
Info & rules
Two rich-text editors: Info (what entrants should know before joining) and Rules (match rules, conduct, tiebreakers). Both stay editable until the tournament is over. You can also use a ruleset template.
Create it
Click Create tournament. You land on the tournament's dashboard with these tabs: Overview, Stages, Matches, Standings, Participants, Money (paid tournaments only), Messages and Settings.
Add stages, then publish
Add at least one stage from the Stages tab. The Overview tab lists what still blocks publishing. When it is clear, follow Publishing.
