Finalize and payouts
Nothing finishes on its own when the last match is played. You finish each stage, and then the tournament, and that is when prizes are scheduled. This article covers that path for owners and tournament staff.
Finish a stage
A stage is ready to finish when everything in it is done:
| Format | Ready when |
|---|---|
| Elimination, round robin | it has matches and every one is complete or skipped |
| Swiss | all matches are complete and every configured round has been paired |
| Battle Royale | it has at least one game and every game is closed |
| Race | the race is complete |
| Points | the round is complete |
Choose Finish stage on the stage's page. Until it is ready, the stage says what is still missing. Standings are finalized and participants advance according to the stage's progression settings:
- Manual: the stage completes and nobody advances yet. The Who advances dialog opens so you can pick who goes through. You can reopen it later from Manage advancement.
- Top performers: the best N advance by rank. In round robin the top N of each group go through.
- Everyone: every participant advances, seeded by rank.
Anyone disqualified, or in a Race or Points stage anyone who did not start, never advances.
Finish the tournament
When every stage is over (completed or cancelled), the tournament completes automatically. One stray pending stage stops it.
The tournament header offers Finish tournament in two cases: a reopened tournament whose stages are all over, and a tournament stuck because a later stage got too few people to start. Check that every result is correct first. Finishing is refused while a match with both sides seated is still open.
Final standings come from the last stage that was not cancelled.
What happens to the money
Payouts only exist for tournaments that charge an entry fee through 360clash. Entry fees wait in the tournament's own balance until payout. On a free tournament nothing moves, so any prize you advertise there is for you to pay.
The prize pool is the total of paid entries. Two fees come off it, each a percentage of the whole pool:
- the platform fee (the tournament form shows its percentage under Organizer fee; it is fixed on the tournament when you publish and never changed afterwards),
- your organizer fee, if you set one, which is paid to your organization's wallet.
The rest is split between places by the prize split you set before publishing.
Fees are rounded down, so any leftover cents go to the prizes. See Fees and Prizes and payouts.
A place nobody finished in, or a prize whose winner disbanded before the release, goes to the platform. It is not shared among the other winners. That is why the prize split should match the turnout you expect.
Winners receive their prize in their own wallet, or the team's wallet for a team entry.
Timing
Finishing the tournament only schedules the payouts. No money moves at that moment. After a hold window, the automatic release pays every prize and fee. You and the staff get a Payouts scheduled notification and email with the release date, and the Payouts card on the Standings tab shows it too. That window is there to catch mistakes.
Within it, you can:
- Reopen the tournament to fix a result. The final standings are cleared and the scheduled payouts are cancelled. Stages and matches stay as they are. After you correct the result and finish again, a fresh schedule starts. Reopening is refused once any payout has been paid.
- Hold payouts, to check something without reopening. See below.
Hold payouts
On the Standings tab, the Payouts card has Hold payouts. You must give a reason, which winners see on their pending payout.
- The hold moves every payout to a later date, up to a fixed limit after the tournament finished. The Hold payouts dialog shows that date before you confirm.
- It can be used once per result. Reopening and finishing again starts a fresh schedule.
- Lift hold returns the payouts to their normal time, or pays them within minutes if that time has passed. The hold cannot be used again.
- Money is never stranded: when the hold runs out, payouts release automatically.
- To change who gets paid, reopen the tournament instead.
Winners are notified when a hold is placed. See Payout hold.
After payout
Once paid, the Payouts card reads "Paid out to the winners' wallets." Reopening is no longer possible. A tournament can be deleted once no prize is waiting and no entry fees remain. See Delete a tournament.
Winners may owe tax on prizes under the law where they live. The Terms and Conditions put that responsibility on the winner.
