Delete a tournament
Updated Oct 15, 2026
Deleting hides a tournament from everyone, including entrants and followers. It is not permanent: the owner can restore it. This article explains when deleting is allowed and what to expect.
Who can delete
Only the organization owner can delete or restore a tournament. Tournament staff, even those who can edit and run the tournament, cannot.
How to delete
- Open the tournament in your dashboard.
- In the tournament header, open the more actions menu (the three dots) and choose Delete tournament.
- Confirm. If the tournament has any entrants, or has been published, you also have to type the tournament's name exactly. This stops a slip in a menu from taking a tournament away from people who are following it. An empty draft only needs the confirmation.
When you cannot delete
- The tournament is ongoing. A live tournament must be cancelled first ("Cancel the tournament before deleting it"). Cancelling stops every stage and refunds the entry fees to the entrants. It cannot be undone.
- It still holds entry fees. The message reads "This tournament is holding entry fees. Cancel it to refund the entrants before deleting it."
- Prizes are waiting to be paid. The message reads "This tournament still has prizes waiting to be paid out. Delete it once they have been released." See Finalize and payouts.
A finished tournament that has paid out its winners can be deleted. A draft cannot be cancelled from the dashboard, so delete a draft you no longer want.
Restoring a deleted tournament
- Open your organizer dashboard.
- Switch to the Deleted tab above the tournament list.
- Open the tournament, then choose Restore from the more actions menu (the three dots) in its header, and confirm.
It becomes visible again with everything it had when it was deleted, in the state it was in.
